Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsGoogle Ads put your business at the top of the results the moment someone searches. For a Florida owner that can mean the phone ringing the same week, which is why ads are the right tool when you need calls now. They are also easy to waste. This guide explains how campaigns should be built in a state of 67 counties, how to draw the map so you do not pay for clicks you cannot serve and how to pace spend through a Florida year.
Campaign build
What is a new customer worth, what share of calls become jobs and which services pay best? That sets the budget and the priorities.
We list the counties, cities or ZIP codes you serve and mark any you do not want, even if they are close to your shop.
Emergency, repair, replacement, quote and comparison searches go into separate groups with their own ads.
Ads say what you do, where, and how to reach you, using only claims you can support.
Each ad group points to a page about that service in that area, not to a generic home page.
Calls, form fills and bookings are tracked so you can see which keywords produce real customers.
We prune what wastes money and shift budget toward what works.
Campaign types
| Campaign type | Best for | Florida note |
|---|---|---|
| Search campaigns | People actively searching for a service | The workhorse for most local businesses |
| Local Services Ads | Trades and professions that qualify and pass screening | Google verifies licences and checks, and not every category is available, so we confirm eligibility first |
| Call-only ads | Urgent services where a call is the goal | Good for after-hours emergencies when a person answers |
| Performance Max | Businesses with strong tracking and assets | Needs care, because it spreads across channels and can be hard to control |
| Display and video | Awareness and remarketing | Useful for seasonal promotions and for visitors planning trips |
| Remarketing | People who visited but did not call | Valuable for long decisions such as remodels and pool builds |
Geo targeting
Google lets you target by country, state, county, city, ZIP code, radius or custom areas. The right choice depends on how your service area works. A radius around a shop is simple, but in Florida it can spill across water, bays and county lines into areas you cannot reach. A pool route in Pinellas County might be easy to serve from Largo but impractical to reach from Tampa across the bay at rush hour, even though the straight-line distance looks short.
We usually draw targets from real job history and drive times and exclude places you do not serve. We also pay attention to a setting many owners miss: whether Google shows ads to people located in your area, people interested in your area, or both. For a local trade, targeting only people located in the area avoids waste. For a hotel, tour or restaurant, including people who show interest in the area can reach visitors planning a trip. That one setting can change results substantially.
For city-level detail, our Google Ads city guides cover individual Florida markets, including Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville and Pensacola.
A Florida budget calendar
Roughly winter in the south and southwest
Demand rises for medical, dental, restaurants, services for second homes and rentals. Budgets go up, hours and capacity must keep pace.
Spring
Cooling tune-ups, roof inspections, pool openings and pest programs. Run offers before heat arrives.
June to November
Roofers, tree services, generators and restoration see demand shift. Others keep ads running but watch tone and availability.
Late year
Gift cards, events, travel and year-end projects. Pause or adjust ads for any closures.
Your own sales history should set the real calendar. These are patterns to check against, not facts about your business.
Storm-season ads
When a storm approaches or has just passed, searches change quickly. Some businesses legitimately help: tree crews, roofers, water extraction, generator installers. Their ads should be fast, honest and available only when they can answer. Others should consider pausing ads that could look tone-deaf, such as discount promotions for outdoor events during an evacuation order.
We set rules in advance. Which campaigns pause if you close? Who approves a storm-response ad? How do hours in the ad match hours on the Google profile and the website? And what happens to the budget if a flood of calls exceeds capacity? Planning those in May is far easier than improvising on a Friday evening with a storm on the radar. We never claim to predict storms, and we leave emergency management to the experts.
Language
Large Spanish-speaking audiences live across South Florida, around Orlando and in many other communities. People in those communities often search in Spanish, in English or in a mix. For some businesses, a Spanish ad group with its own landing page is worth testing, especially for services where trust and clear communication matter, such as medical care, legal help, insurance and home repair.
The details matter. Automatic translation of ads and pages can read poorly, so we recommend having a fluent person review or write the copy. Also be honest: if no one on your phones speaks Spanish, a Spanish ad will frustrate callers. This is general advice, and we look at your own customers first.
Measurement
| Metric | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Calls and call length | Longer calls are more often real prospects |
| Form fills and bookings | Direct, countable conversions |
| Cost per real lead | What you paid for each qualified inquiry, not each click |
| Search terms report | The actual searches that triggered ads, so we can add negatives |
| Location report | Which counties and cities produced results and which wasted money |
| Impression share lost to budget | A signal that a good campaign is capped too low |
Keywords
| Intent | Example search | Handling |
|---|---|---|
| Emergency | "ac not cooling tonight" | Call-focused ads, tight schedule, fastest answer |
| Repair or service | "pool pump repair near me" | Service-specific ads and pages |
| Replacement or project | "new roof cost" | Longer sales cycle, form and consultation focus |
| Comparison | "tile versus shingle roof" | Often better handled by search pages than ads |
| Brand | Your business name | Cheap protection against competitors bidding on your name |
| Job seekers and DIY | "hvac technician jobs", "how to fix" | Excluded with negative keywords |
Negative keywords and the search terms report
The most useful report in Google Ads is the list of searches that actually triggered your ads. It is where waste hides. A pest control campaign may attract people searching for pest control jobs, wildlife removal you do not offer or a term in another country. A dental campaign may attract people searching for free dental care. Each of those clicks costs money and delivers nothing.
We review the report often in the first weeks and then on a steady schedule. Irrelevant searches are added as negatives, and good ones that you did not anticipate become new keywords. In Florida there are extra opportunities and pitfalls: place names that appear in more than one state, snowbird searches from people not yet in the state and visitor searches that you may or may not want. We handle each according to your goals.
Landing pages and speed to answer
An ad that sends visitors to a home page full of options loses most of them. Better to land on a page that matches the search: the service, the area and a clear next step. That page should load fast on a phone, show a phone number that can be tapped and offer a short form. For high-value work, add proof, such as licence details, years in business and real photos.
Then comes the part owners control: answering. A click that turns into a missed call is money lost. Ads can be scheduled to match staffing, and calls can be forwarded after hours to a service or a mobile. We track answered and missed calls where possible, because the cheapest improvement in a campaign is often a faster callback. Our lead generation guide goes into this in detail.
Budget, honestly
Your numbers
If a typical job brings in a given amount and one in a few calls becomes a job, you can work backward to what a call is worth.
The first weeks
A tiny budget teaches nothing. Set aside enough to collect a few dozen meaningful clicks before judging.
Do not outrun the crew
If your technicians are booked for three weeks, more leads will only create waiting lists and frustration.
Scale what works
Move money toward campaigns that produce customers and away from those that do not.
Pricing
Questions
Our fee is $895 a month for one platform, $1,595 for two and $2,295 for three. Ad spend is separate and goes straight to the platform. No setup fee, no contract.
It depends on what a customer is worth, your close rate and how fast you want results. We help set a number from your own economics rather than quoting averages.
Yes. We target counties, cities or ZIP codes and exclude areas you do not serve.
For eligible trades and professions, often yes. Google verifies businesses, so there is a screening step. We check eligibility and advise on fit.
Pause anything you cannot answer, and make sure hours match your listing. Emergency services may want to stay on. We plan this with you ahead of the season.
Ads can produce clicks within days, though a new campaign needs time to learn. We never promise a lead count.
